Obituary of Concetta Amoruso LaPorta
August 1, 1934 – Stalettì, Italy
January 4, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta
Concetta LaPorta, beloved wife of the late Francesco LaPorta, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
Born in Stalettì, Italy, Concetta grew up in a hardworking family, the seventh of eight children. In 1951, she married Francesco, and together they built a life centered on family and hard work, immigrating to Canada in 1967 to provide a better future for their children.
Concetta was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Francesco, daughter Antonia Piscionieri, grandson Salvatore Ranieri, and siblings, Gregorio, Theresa, Annunziato, Maria, and Salvatore. She is survived by her children, Rosina LaPorta, Sergio (Karen) LaPorta, and Assunta LaPorta; grandchildren, Francesca (Andre) Richard, Concetta (Glen) Sonnenberg, Concetta Piscionieri, Antonio Piscionieri, Francesco (Ashleigh) Piscionieri, Francesca LaPorta, and Isabella LaPorta; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Cole Richard, Emilia and Noah Sonnenberg, and Tieso and Livio Piscionieri. She is also survived by her siblings, Giovanni and Angela, as well as many cherished family and friends.
Concetta will be remembered for her strong spirit, wisdom, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of life lessons and unconditional love.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street & Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB). Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
