Obituary of Maryann Kavanagh (nee Flegel)

Maryann Kavanagh (nee Flegel) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Maryann was a well-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maryann was raised in Saskatchewan and she often spoke of nature being her playground inspiring a lifelong love of birds.  In the late 50’s, she met and married Aidan Kavanagh.  After a few years in different provinces and states, they settled in Calgary where they lived for over 50 years.  She was a talented homemaker and seamstress.    

She is survived by her children, Sandy and her husband Mark Thygesen of Revelstoke, BC, Carol and her husband Michael Mannas of Calgary, AB, Jim and his wife Jill Kavanagh of Tampa, FL, and Joanne and her husband Dave Dial of Calgary, AB. She was predeceased by her husband Aidan Kavanagh and daughter Katherine.  She will be lovingly remembered by Katherine’s husband Mark Lesack, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

At Maryann’s request there will be neither funeral nor fuss. The family will inter her ashes at Eden Brook Cemetery.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. If friends so desire donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
