Obituary of Barbara Hausegger

1932 – Winnipeg Manitoba 2014 – Calgary Alberta Barbara, beloved wife of 57 years of Robert, succumbed to cancer on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the age of 81 years. She fought off three previous attacks over the past 12 years and when finally beaten, she went out as she would have wanted: quickly and at home. Barbara was a teacher, originally of Home EC, but graduating after years in the hinterlands of the Oil Patch, to become a teacher of living skills at the special Louise Dean School for unwed mothers in Calgary. She pursued Genealogy for herself and developed life history storybooks for her grandchildren Connor and Samantha. She walked the pathways of North Glenmore Park, in fair weather and foul, always observant of the wildlife and the people, often becoming friends with those she met. She is survived by Robert; sons Jim and Grant; daughter Lori (Craig Church); grandchildren Connor and Samantha; sister Bea (Doug); brother Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren will especially miss all the time she spent with them cooking, baking and exploring the garden. She was a teacher to the end. Her death leaves a giant hole in the family, but she leaves behind memories that will bring comfort and laughter. A private celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date.
