Obituary of Donald Louis SIMON

September 22, 1930—May 30, 2013 On May 30th, 2013 Mr. Don Simon of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 82 years. After playing junior football in Edmonton, Don Simon joined the Edmonton Eskimos in 1949. Don played 9 seasons alongside Parker, Kwong, Brigh and Miles. Don’s most productive year came in 1950 when he had 34 carries for 214 yards. Don Simon was part of the three consecutive Grey Cup wins by the Eskimos in 1954, 1955 and 1956. After football, Don and his family made a move to Prince George, later Burnaby, and then back to Alberta and settled in Calgary. Don is predeceased by his Father Louis (Emily) Simon, his mother, Doris (Roy) Haliburton, son Bill (Donna) Simon, sister Doreen (Gavin) Breckenridge, daughter-in-law Tami (Wade) Simon, and step brother Gordon (Pam) Haliburton. He is survived by his close friend Marita McFadden, children Larry (Marilyn), Barbara (Tom) Beierback, Wade, Tracey (Fred) Medford, daughter-in-law Donna Simon, siblings Jack (Kay) Haliburton and Lori Simon. Grandchildren; Nathen (Asia) Eckert, Micah (Shanna-lee) Eckert, Taylor & Skylor Simon, Emma & Myles Medford, Evan Cardinal, as well as four great-grandchildren.
