Obituary of Edith FREWIN

1929 – 2013 Edith Frewin, born in Nightingale, Alberta on February 27, 1929, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the age of 84. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, including her children, Diane (Harry) Campbell, Steve Frewin, and Terry Kluytmans, her grandchildren, Brett (Nicole) Campbell, Jenna (Devin) Dyler, Breanne Campbell, and Tiana Kluytmans. Her great granddaughter, Ayla Dyler, will also miss her GiGi. Edith was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Peter, and their infant son, Terry Douglas, parents Anna and Borger Larsen, brothers Thor and Knute, and sisters Mary and Elsie. Edie helped Pete fulfill a lifelong dream to operate his own business. In 1967, they purchased Dairy Lane Milk Bar in West Hillhurst, which they ran until Pete’s death in 1997. In her retirement years, Edie became a Dance Dance Revolution master, Facebook phenom, computer addict, and an avid traveler. She loved to shop until she dropped, especially on her frequent treks to Reno. She took numerous bus tours throughout Canada and the United States. She was a kid at heart and enjoyed Disneyland and Disney World. She learned to speak Norwegian so she could communicate with her extended family on her two visits to Norway. At the age of 77, Edie learned to play duplicate bridge. She was very well read and loved to discuss current events with anyone who would listen. For the last eighteen months, Edie was lovingly cared for by the amazing staff of Wentworth Manor, to whom our family is eternally grateful. We couldn’t have managed without them. Edie fought cancer with courage and grace. She was feisty and refused to give up. We would like to thank Dr. Cynthia Card, nurse Stephanie Duffyrn, Dr. Steve Angyalfi, Dr. Don Gladman, and Dr. Becky Leonard for their ongoing care and kindness. The family would also like to thank Edith’s wonderful friends from the bridge community who supported her right up until the end and knew just how to brighten her day. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.
