PARENTEAU, Dean Marc
1950 – 2012
Dean Marc Parenteau of Calgary, Alberta, beloved father of Sean, Ken, and Danielle Parenteau, passed away on Monday, October 1st, 2012 at the age of 62 years at the Agape Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dean was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta on July 7th, 1950, but spent most of his childhood in the Drayton Valley area. It was there that he began a long and rewarding career with Continental Emsco, later named C/E Franklin, as an oilfield supplies salesman. In 1985, he relocated with his children to Calgary. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, excelling in darts winning numerous awards and accolades, including a silver medal in the Alberta Summer Olympics in early 1990s. He loved music and playing RPG computer games, and spent much of his time renovating and working on cars in his garage. His greatest love was his black 1989 Corvette.
Dean is survived by his children and their families, Suzanne Wilton and grandchildren Sam and Sydney; Lisa Parenteau and grandchildren Taylor, Alyssa, and Jacob; and grandchildren Nicolas and Josh; as well as his mother Pearl, brothers Morris and Melvin, and sisters Claudette, Charlotte, and Simone.
He was predeceased by his father, Samuel, and his brother Bernard.
A memorial service will take place Friday, October 5th at 2:00 p.m. at McINNIS AND HOLLOWAY Eastside Memorial Chapel, 5388 Memorial Drive NE Calgary. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If desired, a contribution can be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
