We have received a few inquiries regarding a recent article written by CBC about funeral home websites across Canada selling trees and families confusing this with the Memorial Forests® program by McInnis & Holloway.

Each year, McInnis and Holloway plants a tree for every family we serve at no additional cost to the family, in 2020 our newest Memorial Forest was created in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation area.

Since the start of our Memorial Forest program in 1996 McInnis and Holloway has planted over 57,842 trees in the Calgary and surrounding areas at zero cost to families served by McInnis & Holloway.

In recent years funeral homes across Canada have started offering trees for sale as a way to offer a similar living memorial and profit off the sale of trees.  These trees are not planted locally in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation area nor do they have any affiliation to McInnis & Holloway’s Memorial Forests® program. Trees sold on other funeral homes websites is very different as families may not be made aware that they are being offered for sale and may not agree with these being offered on the funeral home website and their loved ones obituary page.  Every family that has a tree planted and cared for in the Memorial Forests® program by McInnis & Holloway is aware of the contribution.  The feedback from Calgarians has been incredible positive  and many have commented on the comfort provided knowing that this tree is planted locally at a place they can visit and reflect on their loved one.
