Obituary of Paula Dorothy Milton (nee Nagel)

December 8, 1960 – Vulcan, Alberta

September 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

On December 8th, 2020, the 60th Birthday of Paula Milton (nee Nagel), I wrote in her card…I am hoping for you to have a year full of wonderful surprises, full of no pain, full of things you love to do, but haven’t been able to. Wouldn’t it be glorious. Today I must announce the passing of my youngest sister, after losing her courageous three-year battle to Cancer. She will be forever missed in the hearts and memories of so many, more than she will ever know.

Paula was born in Vulcan, Alberta on December 8, 1960. She lived in several southern Alberta locations before our family finally settled in the district of Ogden in Calgary, Alberta. It was during this time she met her husband to be David Milton.

Paula was a perfectionist, she loved working with her hands, whether she was baking her specialty Birthday and Wedding Cakes or crafting. She was so talented at sketching and was the most awesome present wrapper! She loved Sunday dinners with her family, Shopping, Vegas trips, Festivals, Music, Reading, Movies, and the Keg for Girls’ night out or any night for that matter. She loved dogs and the feeling was mutual. She loved to share memories of experiences throughout her life and the different people she had met along the way. We will miss those stories.

Paula leaves behind her sister Lorie (Wayne) Bruce and their family, Brent (Corinne) Milton and their family, Bob (Cindy) Milton and their family, as well as Nephews, Nieces, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband David Milton (2003), her parents, Harvey (1992) and Jennie (1975) Nagel, sister Judy Hartwick (2018), and so many other family members close to her.

As per Paula’s wishes no formal services will be held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here. Sincere thank you to family members who were a constant support to Paula, to her friend Shelley, and to the truly remarkable Nurses, Doctors, Pain Management Team, Palliative Care and all the staff of Unit 68 at South Health Campus, Calgary.  Their kindness, compassion and medical care were amazing, and we think of each one of them; too many to name, with the deepest gratitude. Special thanks to Dr. Card and Ivy for their care over the years Paula was in treatment and to the Nurses, Doctors and Tilly at the High River Cancer Treatment Centre. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of your choice or, to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB  T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca, to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, 28 Oki Drive NW, Calgary, AB  T3B 6A8, Telephone: (403) 955.8818. www.childrenshospital.ab.ca.
