Christiam Lopatinsky Prado

Obituary of Christiam Otmar Lopatinsky Prado

LOPATINSKY PRADO, Christiam Otmar

July 20, 1975 - Guayaquil, Ecuador

February 6, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Christiam Lopatinsky Prado beloved husband of Mylene Torres Pinto of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the age of 46 years.

Christiam was born in Guayaquil and moved to Calgary, AB in 2006.  Christiam enjoyed watching movies and tv shows with his family and loved collecting memorabilia for his favorites such as Star Wars, his favorite DC superhero - Batman, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and many more. He had a passion for cooking, traveling, music, and games. Christiam’s most memorable vacation was when he went to Santa Marta in Colombia with Mylene for the first time. Mylene requested to the taxi driver that they be taken to “the best movie theatre” in the city, since Christiam had always taken Mylene to the best cinemas in Ecuador. When they arrived at the movies in Santa Marta, they found themselves in a viewing room with no air conditioning, unsynchronized audiovisuals, and visible film marks on the screen. The whole room was screaming, “I hope we get our money back!” The entire time, Christiam was laughing at the whole situation.

Christiam lived his life quoting everything he watched, read, or listened to. His family would always be looking for the references he would slip into everyday life. Some of his favorite quotes were:

• “Hello there.” ~ Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)

• “Que la fuerza te accompañe.”/ “May the force be with you.” ~Star Wars

• “Mira como te mira Conan.” ~te lo resumo (YouTube)

• “Not my tempo.” ~ Fletcher (Whiplash)

• “No capes” ~ Edna Mode (Incredibles)

• “I never look back darling, it distracts me from the now.” ~ Edna Mode (Incredibles)

• “I KNOW YOU KNOW! I got it; I got the concept!” ~ Hades (Hercules)

• “Everything is Awesome!” ~ Lego Movie

He will be most remembered for his smile, big heart, generosity, and sense of humour.

Besides his loving wife and children, Christiam is survived by his parents, Miryam Prado and Jorge Lopatinsky; his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alicia Lopatinsky de Bowman, Madeleine Barker, Candy Lopatinsky, Laurence Barker, and Ross Bowman.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law Consuelo Silva; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, siblings-in-law, friends and his two cats, Sky and Neko.
