Sykes Frederick Powderface, 88, of Morley, Alberta, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, March 25, 2022. Sykes was born in Morley, Alberta, to Harrison Powderface and Becky (Dixon) Powderface on May 15, 1933.

Sykes is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanita White, his children, Fred (Koko), Corleigh, and Heather (Shoronia); special nieces, Winnie and Ramona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cory (Tommy), Tyra (Travis), and Shatekarahkwí:io; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives in Morley, Eden Valley and Kahnawake.

He is preceded by his parents Harrison and Becky Powderface; brothers, Sam, Scotty, and Peter; sisters, Ramona, June, Susanne, Lita, Esther and Christine; his son Merill. Apologies to anyone we missed. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kirk, Kenny House, and the medical staff at Canmore General Hospital for their exceptional care for Sykes and his family.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB) on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Out of respect for Sykes’s final wishes, all attendees must wear a mask, sanitize their hands, and respect all social distancing measures. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Powderface’s service streamed live on the day of the service at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed there. There will be a Celebration of Life organized at a later date.
