Obituary of Mary (Marg) Margaret Ormon

Margaret Ormon of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the age of 89 years.

 

Marg lived most of her life in Calgary but as the daughter of a career army officer and the wife of a career army officer she experienced many postings. She lived in many places in Canada (Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Halifax, Camp Borden, Edmonton, Wainwright), Germany and the final posting to Calgary in 1971 where she lived ever since. Marg was a member of the Heritage Seniors Club, Priddis Greens Golf Club, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She also volunteered with both the Heritage Seniors and St. Andrew’s, coordinating many of their events. She worked as a lunchroom supervisor at Milton Williams JHS for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1996.

 

Marg enjoyed her family, church, bridge, curling, golfing, reading, knitting, needlecrafts, and sewing. She enjoyed all family events especially with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

 

Marg is survived by her three sons, David (Catherine) of Strathmore, Rod of Calgary, and Maurice (Pamela) of Abbotsford, BC; her daughter Karen (Richard) of Barra de Navidad, Mexico and Calgary; her four grandchildren, Amanda (Jason), Nate, Chantal, and Colton; her three step-grandchildren Nicholas, Michael (Mireille), and Leah; and her three great-grandchildren, Jake, Addelynn, and Shawn. Marg is also survived by her sister Shirley Mutchler of Toronto and her brother-in-law Bill Amery of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her husband Capt. Ernest Waldo Ormon, her parents, Lt. Col. Orlando and Mary Fuson; her sister Betty Amery, and her pet cat Ming predeceased Marg.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

 

The family would like to thank St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Chateau Renoir, and the staff on Units 73 and 56 at the Rockyview General Hospital.

 

In living memory of Margaret Ormon, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
