Obituary of Rose HENRY

June 11, 1919 – January 11, 2012 With great sadness the family of Rose Henry of Calgary, announces her peaceful passing at the Bethany Care Centre on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the age of 92 years. Rose was born on June 11, 1919 in Bolton Lancashire, England and immigrated to Canada at the age of eighteen months old. She spent her youth on the family farm near Piapot, Saskatchewan. Rose married Russell W. Henry during World War II and at the end of the war their young family settled in Brooks, Alberta. Russ and Rose moved to Calgary in 1948 and in 1959, they were proud to build the first home in the then new southwest community of Southwood with their expanding family. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Henry and her children Debby, Jim, Ledale and Sheldon, and Peggy and John Van de Pol and their daughter Kayley; her son Cameron, Cameron’s friend Deb and her son Thomas and Cameron’s children Candace, Della, Gary and Justin. Rose is also survived by her brother Don and his family; twenty-five great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband Russell in June 2010. Rose, the daughter of James and Margaret Barber, will be lovingly remembered by her many relatives and friends. She was a kind woman with a sweet demeanor who lived a gentle life without causing anyone any worries. Rose left this world at peace.
