Obituary of Eva Mabel SAYERS
November 21, 1924 – January 9, 2012
Eva Sayers passed away quietly in Okotoks on January 9, 2012 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Harvey Holmstrom, of Caroline, Alberta; her sister-in-law Carol Larson of Surrey, BC; her brother Floyd Larson (Lois) of Abbotsford, BC; seven nieces and one nephew; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Eva was predeceased by her husband, Roy Sayers in 1975; her parents Earl and Cecelia Larson; her sister, Ethel Larson in 2009; and her brother, Cecil Larson in 2011.
Eva was born in Assiniboia, SK and lived in Saskatchewan and British Columbia during her childhood and early adulthood. She also spent a brief time in Ottawa, during World War II. She married Roy in 1946 and after moving to his family farm in Saskatchewan for a few years, he rejoined the Royal Canadian Air Force. During their twenty-nine year marriage, they moved to seven different military bases in five provinces.
On retirement in 1968 they moved to the Calgary area where Eva continued to live (except for brief periods in Saskatchewan and BC) Eva battled health issues her whole life but always faced them head-on. She had a passion and talent for music and crafts and spent countless hours enjoying both. She loved animals (especially cats and dogs) and always enjoyed being around her daughter’s pets after she could no longer have her own.
At Eva’s request there will be no service and her body will be cremated. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends and family desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
