Obituary of Joyce Hilda KALAKAILO
January 28, 1931 – December 27, 2011
It is with profound sadness the family of Joyce Kalakailo announces her passing on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 due to complications from injuries suffered in a fall several weeks earlier.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family as a great cook and for the many wonderful dinners she would host, her sharp wit, her love of hockey and football and her dedication to family. She had an excellent singing voice and played several instruments. Joyce was always proud of her roots in Willowbrook, Saskatchewan and was a longstanding Roughriders fan but was torn when they played the Stampeders.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years Russell Kalakailo; her daughters, Wanda (Philip Young) and Myra (Rob Komenda); her grandchildren, Dana Young and Jenna Young, all of Calgary; her brother Myles Carey of Whitehorse, Yukon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her mother Esther Carey; father Elmore Carey; brother Lorne Carey; and sister Leola Potestio.
