Condolences
Dear Helen and Family,
Robert and I were away when we heard about Jim and we give our sincere condolences to you and your family at this sad time.
Robert (Bob) and Anne Ferrier
Dear Helen and Family,
As I was driving to Banff the afternoon of the 27th (my birthday) I came over the hill just west of the Bragg Creek turnoff on Highway # 1 and looked to that stunning southwest view and thought of the many pleasant Christmases our family had spent at the KC. I thought of the Mackies and of the close knit family they were, led by two of the nicest, kindest people I ever met. My heartfelt condolences to you all. Jim was a great man in many ways.

Helen,
We are thinking of you and your family at this time of your great loss. Jim was always welcoming and kind to us (as you also), and his mentorship is something I appreciated.
Jim was a special person, including his ability to balance his professional and personal life better than many of us.
We know his passing will leave a large gap in your family. We hope you can draw strength from each other and your friends at this time.
We extend our deepest condolences,
Peter and Ildiko
Jamie,
Shari and I were saddened to learn of your father’s passing last week.
I met your father a few times over the years (as far back as the mid-sixties, when you and I were working together on our science fair project). I was always struck by your father’s energy and passion for life.
Our hearts go out to you and your family. Shari and I extend our deepest condolences to you & Brenda, your mother Helen and the rest of the Mackie family.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Mackie. My connection with Jim was as part of a team that Jim initiated and spearheaded for the dedication of Stephen Avenue as a National Historic District. This was concluded with a ceremony celebrating this and a monument on Stephen Avenue describing the designation. Unfortunately, at the ceremony Jim was not properly recognized for his role which was very disappointing. However, he will always be remembered by the key members of this group for his wonderful work in achieving this goal.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Helen and family. Our memories of Jim go back many years with Rachel working at Howard Mackie, to Scottish Country Dancing and lastly The Calgary Burns Club. In life he was the kindest, caring man and he will be sadly missed.
I was deeply saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. He was such a kind and loving and supportive friend to my parents, John and Kathleen Snow, and his frequent visits to their home, with Helen, were cherished. His warmth and quiet gladness in everything around him touched many.
Dear Helen,
It is with sadness that I read of Jim’s passing. He was truly a great man. I always enjoyed conversations with him and the kindness you both showed me after Sam passed away will never be forgotten. Unfortunately due to a longstanding commitment, I will be unable to attend his Funeral Service but you and your family will be in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Joanne Murphy
