Obituary of Violet LIEN
May 7, 1921 – December 22, 2011
Our much beloved Mom, our Grandma, our Grammy and our Sis passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011.
Mom was born in Ukraine in May of 1921 and came to Canada at age 3, settling with her Mom and Dad in southeastern Alberta. In 1953, Violet, Amund, Herb and Anna moved into the new home they built in the new community of Banff Trail. This was the family home and Mom resided there until moving into the Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore in 2005. Mom passed away due to mounting complications of old age.
Violet was an extraordinary woman; resilient, strong, generous and loving. She will be greatly missed by her family, son Herb (Joan) McMullen; daughter Anna (Ken) Willis; grandchildren, Kari (Rich), Tim, Dave, Gina (Derek) and Shari; and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Ben. She will also be missed by her brothers, Len, Carl (Joan) and Bernie (Vicky) and their families.
Mom was also a good friend to many, both present and in the past. The family would like to thank the staff at Beverly Centre for Mom’s care over the past six years along with a special thank you for the companionship of the friends she made at the Beverly.
Your struggles are over, Mom. Rest In Peace… love from your family.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
