Obituary of Marie Louise BOURASSA

November 14, 1925 – December 21, 2011 After a lengthy illness, Marie Louise Bourassa of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Chinook Hospice at the age of 86 years. Marie was christened Mary Louise by her parents Samuel and Susan Reid, in Glasgow, Scotland, at her birth on November 14, 1925. Mary was nicknamed Maisie all of her life until she met and married a French Canadian soldier in July of 1943. From that day forward, Maisie became known as Marie. Marie came to Canada after the war to her husband’s French Canadian family who lived on a farm in southern Saskatchewan. Marie is survived by her three children Mary (Tony) Fraser of Okotoks, David (Sharon) Bourassa of Calgary and Robert (Brenda) Bourassa of Airdrie. She was also blessed with eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Marie is also lovingly remembered by two sisters Susan Lees and Sheila (Dale) Guyett of Calgary; and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews throughout Canada, the United States, Scotland and England. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arsene “Red” Bourassa; parents Samuel and Susan; sister Elizabeth Atkins of Portsmouth, England; Red’s parents Romuald and Mederise; his three brothers, John, Ralph and Robert; and his four sisters, Laura, Lucie, Jeanne, and Ida.
