Obituary of Brian Rowntree THOMPSON
February, 1953 – December 18, 2011
Brian Thompson of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the age of 58 years.
Brian was born in Calgary February 10, 1953 to Eveline and Leslie Thompson. He was the youngest of three children. A quintessential Calgarian, Brian loved the outdoors. His passions included fly-fishing, bird watching, photography and driving. He especially enjoyed occasional 5-hour drives through the foothills and beyond. Like many Calgarians he worked in the oil industry. Lately he volunteered as secretary and webmaster for the Society for Technical Communication (Alberta Chapter).
Brian will be remembered for his sense of humour, and his dedication to family, friends and colleagues. Brian took on new challenges with enthusiasm, determination and grace, becoming an accomplished website designer in the last few years. Brian’s dry wit, curmudgeonly persona and generosity will be greatly missed.
Brian is survived by and will be greatly missed by his mother Eveline, his sisters Sheila (Winston Husbands) and Pauline (Robert Eberle), his nephews Aman Husbands and Rowan Eberle (Lauren), his niece Kambili Husbands, extended family and friends.
Brian was predeceased by his father Leslie Thompson.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held in January. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
