Obituary of David Lea WILLIS

September 5, 1931 – December 12, 2011 David Willis of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the age of 80 years. David was born in Moose Jaw, SK. After graduation with a B. Com. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1955, David received his Charted Accountant designation. In 1962 he joined Imperial Oil Ltd., spending eleven years with the company in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. A subsequent twenty-two years were spent with a number of firms in the gas utility and oil industries, the last nine of which were spent as Vice Chairman of the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission. A dedicated volunteer, David was President of both Heritage Park Society and Alberta Theatre Projects and gave his time to several committees with The Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Jean Willis, his three children, Leslie (Tony), Michael (Beth) and Robert (Anna) and four grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Madeline and Oro. He is also survived by his eldest sister, Muriel (Ken) Shelstad of London, ON. Memorial Services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
