Obituary of Margaret McLeod ROBBINS

Margaret Robbins passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2011 to be reunited with her loving husband George, who predeceased her in 1988. She was also predeceased by her parents, Charles & Alice Cameron and her brother, James Cameron. Margie was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She leaves her four loving children: Georgia Dinning, Michael Robbins (Brenda), Mary Lee Schurmann (Klaus) and Alison Allison (Rob). She provided endless love and support for her nine grandchildren: Cameron Dinning (Mandy), Gillian Mair (Patrick), Kathryn Dinning; Justin and Jamie Schurmann; Russell, Grady and Heather Allison; and Claire Robbins. She also leaves great-granddaughter, Jenna Schurmann; sister-in-law Dorothy Cameron; and her many nieces and nephews. Born on November 13, 1921, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Margie grew up in a loving home that instilled in her many strong family values. She started her career in Toronto, before returning to Regina to be closer to her mother while her brother, Jimmy, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following a whirlwind courtship, Margie married her “honey”, George, in 1947. They started their family in Regina and looked forward to a new opportunity with a move to Calgary in 1958. Margie embraced her new life with enthusiasm and humour and was a constant support for her family, her husband’s business ventures and their community service. She enjoyed her role as the central figure of a very active family. Travel was always a special part of Margie’s life, whether it was trips with George or adventures with kids and pets at the lake, ski hills, and many other exciting destinations. Introduced to Bridge by her mother, Margie always looked forward to playing with George, their many friends & family and later on at the Glencoe Club, the Calgary Golf & Country Club as well as Trinity Lodge. Margaret lived her life with exceptional grace and dignity and will be remembered for her gentle and gracious spirit, quick wit, delicate style and inner strength. The gift of Margie’s unconditional love and support will be with us always. Toodle-oo, Margie. The family wishes to thank Dr. Laurie Pereles, the wonderful staffs of Trinity Lodge, Units 83 & 91 at the Rockyview Hospital, Home Instead and Foothills Hospice for their care and compassion.
