Obituary of Giovina SAVOIA

February 26, 1920 – November 26, 2011 God has called one of His angels home. It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of this beautiful and courageous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Through all her life, Giovina maintained an unwavering faith in God, which she has always cherished, especially in her last days. She was always happy and joyful but never more so than with her family and friends around her, sharing her wonderful wit, easy laughter, storytelling and of course, her wonderful food. Giovina was a special person who inspired everyone she came into contact with and her passing will truly leave a void in all our lives. She leaves to mourn her husband Bonomo, children Franco (Barbara), Mario (Susan), Gino, Julio (Pam), Kathy (Scott); grandchildren Matthew (Christa), Marc (Trisha), Robert, Monica, Julia, Danielle and Stefano; great-grandchildren Natalie, Samantha, Mackenzie, Jaden, Ethan and Rhiana; loving brother Alessandro (Anna), nephew Nicola (Maria) and their extended families in Canada and Italy. She was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Graziella; brothers Carmine and Domenico; sisters Ida and Maria; daughter-in-law Beverley. Giovina is also predeceased by her two infant children Tonino and Maria, who await her in heaven. We extend a special thank you to the staff of unit 62 at the Foothills Hospital, Dr. Osei-Tutu, and nurses and staff of the Agape Hospice, Cathy, Marty and Maria. Giovina requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a children’s charity of your choice or to the Agape Hospice. And, in thanking all those unknown people whose gift of blood has sustained her these past few years, we ask you to consider donating blood in her memory. Relatives and friends are invited to pray the rosary at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.), on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 7:45 p.m with Prayers and Tributes to follow at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
