Obituary of Salvatore LUCENTE

April 2, 1930 – November 26, 2011 Salvatore Lucente, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 81 years. Salvatore was born on April 2, 1930, in San Giovanni in Fiore, Cosenza, Italy. He immigrated to Calgary in 1957. He worked diligently all his life to make a better future for his family, retiring only when he was no longer physically able. His life was dedicated to his family and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him. The legacy he leaves us is one of love and dedication to his family; of strength and integrity, of never abandoning your dreams no matter the obstacles. His greatest living legacies are his grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life. He will be remembered for his faithful devotion to his wife of fifty-two years, Teresa; his four sons, Francesco (Olimpia), Giuseppe (Maria Grazia), Mario (Dorothy), Carlo (Xhilda); and grandchildren Salvatore, Lydia, DaSanto, Armando and Cassandra. He also leaves behind sisters Filomena, Clara, Antonia, Rosa, Vittoria; brother-in-law Giovanni Straface (Rosa); and countless beloved nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, both here and in Italy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community Church (800 – 85 Street S.W.) on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
