Obituary of Rejean LARRIVÉE

May 4, 1953 – November 24, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rejean Larrivée on November 24th. Rejean was born on May 4th 1953 in Price, Quebec. With only a little English and the clothes on his back, he headed west over 35 years ago. Rejean enjoyed Calgary (especially Friday nights at the Kensington Pub and weekend-afternoon blues and jazz jams), but he spoke particularly fondly of his years in Dawson Creek. A lumberjack, bartender, and construction worker, Rejean was fiercely independent and a poet at heart. He was a dear friend to many and his circle included people from all walks of life. He will be missed for his gentle sense of humour, his curiosity about the world, and especially for his distinctive baritone voice! Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Rejean’s Life on Sunday, December 4th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Songwriter’s Club (428 8 Avenue SE). Rejean loved music, and so in lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make a donation towards an hour of blues programming in his name to CKUA radio at donors@ckua.com or 780-428-2030. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Rejean Larrivée, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
