Obituary of Glen Charles FRANCIS

June 5, 1951 – November 21, 2011 Embraced with love, Glen passed away peacefully and with dignity on Monday, November 21, 2011 after a brief illness. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Barb (nee Dunn), two daughters, Sarah Camille and Katrin Lee, his parents, Max and Vera Francis, two sisters, Maxine Stewart (Phil) and Brenda Higginbottom (Kevin), brother-in-law, Peter Dunn (Wendy), sister-in-law, Susan Dunn and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, Glen graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation and practiced with Clarkson Gordon for several years in Toronto. His professional career path then took him to TransCanada Pipelines in Toronto, Calgary and Bogota, Colombia in various leadership capacities. Remaining in the energy industry, he was subsequently employed with Encana Corporation, Plains Midstream, and Terasen Pipelines until his retirement in 2009. While Glen’s passions included skiing, sailing, travel, good food, wine, music, and driving his Porsche ‘Franz’, his first priority was always his family. He said in his final days with us it was a good quality life! A Celebration of Glen’s Life will be held at the Calgary Golf and Country Club (One and one half blocks west of Elbow Drive on 50th Avenue S.W.) on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to join us at this celebration.
