Obituary of Anita Margaret WYBERT

June 17, 1919 – November 21, 2011 Claire Wybert (née Fraser) of Calgary passed away peacefully in her own home Monday, November 21, 2011 at the age of 92 years. Claire, known as Peggy for her first 50 years, approached life with determination and great warmth for those around her. She loved to keep up with current events, enjoying her ‘daily paper’ and CNN. After spending her early years in Saskatoon, where she was born on June 17, 1919, Claire moved with her family to Alberta, and eventually to Calgary, where she lived since 1960. It was while she was working for Seaboard Oil in Edmonton in the 1950s that she met Val Wybert. Hitting it off at a baseball game changed the course of her life – fifty wonderful years together! Always creative and independent, Claire took up painting in her early 50s during a year that she and her family spent in London, England. She started with oils, but eventually moved on to watercolors – an abiding passion that carried on throughout the remainder of her life. She studied with many local and visiting artists, and was an active member of Calgary Community Painters for several years. Claire took a keen interest in the busy lives of her children and grandchildren and her home was always filled with wonderful plants and paintings and tasty treats. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Claire is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Wybert Thompson and Donna-Lee Wybert, and her husband Roy Masrani and their three children, Vaden, Rhys and Teale. She was predeceased by her husband Val (Paul Vaden) Wybert in 2007 and her two brothers Morris Edwin Fraser and Roy William Fraser. A Celebration of Claire’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
