Obituary of de RAAF

May 31, 1929 – November 20, 2011 Janny “Jenny” de Raaf beloved wife of John of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the age of 82 years. She was born on May 31, 1929 in De Lier, Netherlands. She was the third of eight children. Her early years were spent growing up in De Lier where she also attended school, then later finished her schooling in Naaldwyk. After John and Jenny married on February 24, 1954 they immigrated to Canada to begin their new life together. That life began in Rosemary, Alberta working on a potato farm until their first child was born. After four years, they moved to Brooks were they resided and raised their family until 2007 when they moved to Calgary to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Mom loved to cook Dutch food, did endless baking, enjoyed Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights, had a passion for playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years John; her five children, Leny, Casey, John (Joel), Mary Jane (Dan) and Jeannette (Doug); fifteen grandchildren, Sara, Brittanee, Rita, Jessica, Jaimee, Maria, Delaine, Corbin, Jamie, Jenny, Paul, Shane, Abby, Bryson and Megan; and eight great-grandchildren, Raina, Brodin, Breanna, Daryan, Tristan, Shawn, Reed and Matthew.
