Obituary of Raymond NEWBON

August 8, 1925 – November 19, 2011 Ray Newbon, beloved husband of Freda Newbon of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Ray was born in Stoke on Trent, Staffs, England. He began work in the coal mines at the age of fourteen and immigrated to Canada in 1948 and continued to work in the coal mines until 1952. Following his marriage to Freda he went to work in the construction industry as a carpenter until his retirement. Ray’s favourite pastime was going to the horse races and watching Coronation Street. Besides his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Paula Newbon; three granddaughters, Ashley Newbon (Don Godin), Raelene Newbon and Alaina (Kane) Wewiel; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Brayden and Sienna. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Roy and Barbara Newbon and several nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his brother Graham Newbon. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Santauri Hospice for their warm and loving care of Raymond in his last days.
