Obituary of NICKOLAS MASIKEWICH

March 9, 1924 – November 18, 2011 We are sad to announce the passing of Nickolas Masikewich on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Nick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all those he was close to. In 1954 Nickolas moved from Edmonton to Calgary. He was with Gulf Canada Resources for thirty years in various administrative positions. Nickolas was a Christian and an active member at First Baptist Church in Calgary and volunteered many hours at Operation Eyesight Universal. He was friendly, outgoing and enjoyed fellowship with family and friends. He was very active in sports with a special love for baseball, at which he excelled and played at a semi-professional level in Edmonton. Nick also enthusiastically attended his grandchildren’s sporting events at every opportunity. He also enjoyed golf, curling, and hunting with friends. Nickolas loved travelling, he visited many countries around the world and loved spending time with his family at his cottage at Sylvan Lake. His hobbies included photography and gardening which provided many hours of relaxation and enjoyment. Nick is survived by his loving wife Bernice, his sons, Jim (Svetlana), Glenn (Lynn), and Brent (Christine), brother Richard (Sylvia), and grandchildren, Robert (Amber), Curtis (Claire), Jodie, Sacha, Scott, Jenifer, Clayton, Joel, Kayla (Jason), Angelina and great-granddaughter Grace and many other family members. Nickolas was predeceased by his first wife Shirley Laurean Masikewich; parents George and Mary Masikewich and sister Kay Latto. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church (1311 – 4th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Eye Sight Universal or SIM (Serving In Mission).
