Obituary of Grant Clyde TOWNSEND

August 25, 1920 – November 15, 2011 Grant Townsend of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, November 15 2011 at the age of 91 years. Grant was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and grew up in Banff. He served in WWII with the Calgary Highlanders. While stationed in England, he met and married Ann Esther Upperton. She arrived in Canada as a war bride in 1944. Eventually, they settled in Calgary. He went on to be employed with Canada Customs and retired in 1980. Even though they tried living in other locations of Alberta and British Columbia, they returned to Calgary as they were true Calgarians and missed their beloved city. Ann passed away in 1990 and Grant eventually remarried in 1998 to Eileen Mountford. Unfortunately, she passed away shortly after. Grant was a kind and caring person and will be deeply missed. Grant is survived by his sister Betty (Jim) Arch of Florida, two sons, David (Bonnie) of Calgary and Grant (George) of Victoria. Cremation services were held.
