Obituary of Andrew Adamson McCOWAN

February 6, 1930 – November 13, 2011 On Sunday night, November 13, 2011, from the loving arms of his daughter, Andrew passed into the presence of God and was reunited with those that had gone before him. Born February 6th, 1930 in Anstruther, Scotland, Andrew immigrated to Canada in 1941, arriving in Calgary on his 21st Birthday. It was here he met his lifelong sweetheart Margaret Tinsley, and they were married in April 1955. They would welcome a son and a daughter in the years that followed. A Master Plumber of more than fifty years, “Andy” worked in many of the large commercial buildings in Calgary, as well as residential homes, meeting and making friends along the way. At the age of 50, he and Margaret started their own successful company, Adams Plumbing and Heating Ltd. They enjoyed many years of partnership until her passing January 1995. He is survived by daughter Maureen Keeler; son Michael McCowan; cherished grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas and Justin; and treasured fur friends, Rose and Penny. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret; brothers, George and Donald McCowan; parents George and Eliza McCowan; and many more dear relatives and friends. A cheerful kind helpful soul, loving father and grandfather, friend to all, we say a sad but gratitude filled goodbye. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church (1102 – 23rd Avenue N.W.) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., with The Rev. D. Delport officiating.
