Obituary of Maria Alice MENDES

July 3, 1950 – November 13, 2011 Maria Alice Mendes passed away in a fatal car accident on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the age of 61 years. Alice was born in Brinços Abiul, Portugal on July 3, 1950, and immigrated to Canada in 1974. Alice was greatly beloved and she is survived by her husband, Manuel; her daughter, Lizette (Nuno); two sons, Filipe (Sylvia) and Sergio; four grandchildren, Amy, Claudia, Isabella and Tiago; her mother, Maria Ferreira and mother-in-law Maria do Carmo; and four siblings, Lourdes, Silvina, Manuel and Helena. Many other family members are also feeling the sorrow of her passing, as she touched many with her genuine kindness. Alice will live forever in the hearts of her loved-ones as they remember the lessons she taught about unconditional love, forgiveness, faith and humility. Her family feels her warmth and strength watching over them from God’s side and granting them the courage to support each other during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E.) on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E.) on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
