Obituary of Bernie PAQUETTE

January 16, 1944 – November 13, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernie Paquette. Bernie was raised in Embrun, Ontario. He earned his Certificate in Steam-fitting and was a member of the United Association Union. Bernie will be remembered as a person that loved life and thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends. You could never go into Bernie and Orion’s home without being offered a glass of his famous home made wine, which he always ensured was topped up, so that you would stay and visit a little longer. Bernie’s first passion was spending time with his wife and when he wasn’t with Orion, he loved to build and tinker with wood, tiles, plumbing, mechanics and pretty much anything around the house. He always had a home project on the go, but was never too busy to stop and help family and friends with their projects. Bernie never complained about anyone or anything. He was a big kind-hearted man who we know is waiting patiently in Heaven for us, ready to pour us a glass of his homemade wine. He is survived by his loving wife Orion of almost 30 years of marriage, his children, Julie, Richard and Peter (Vicky), his stepchildren Laura Lee Goetjen, Leslie Ann Kalman (Chris Zipfel), Morrie Goetjen (Debbie) and Heather Porteous (Ken) and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of his Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., T2N 1Z6, www.heartandstroke.ca. or to the Lions Eye Bank Alberta Society, c/o Rockyview General Hospital, 7007 – 14 Street S.W., T2V 1P9 or to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Bernie Paquette, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY.
