Rosa was born in Regina, first of three daughters to Margaret & Leonard Ziolkowski. She grew up in Fort Qu’appelle and Weyburn, SK. With her infectious charm, vivacity, intelligence and downright goodness, she made countless friends everywhere she has lived. After matriculating from Weyburn Collegiate at the top of her class, she won her BA in Social Sciences and Language from the University of Manitoba at Brandon College, where she met her future husband Ernie, a farm boy from Cardale,Mb. After an exciting, loving and hectic 4-year courtship, they were married at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Weyburn on August 1,1953. Rosa had a professional career as a social worker with the Sask. Social Services dept. from 1951-1954, when she switched to motherhood and super homemaking. In support of Ernie’s career with Imperial Oil Ltd, she built loving family and social circles in Vulcan, Ab, Edmonton, Calgary, Tulsa,Ok, Dartmouth, NS, and Edmonton & Calgary (again.) A very devout spiritual person, she took pride in her active membership in the Catholic Women’s League since 1950, carrying out working & leadership roles in parishes and communities. She will be forever appreciated as a role model to her children and her community. Ernie and his family extend their profound gratitude to the angels of Home Care & We Care whose incredible help allowed Rosa to spend the last 5 months of her life in the loving embrace of her own home.
