Obituary of Normin KNIGHT
October 16, 1938 –November 11, 2011
Normin Knight beloved husband of Donna Walker of Calgary, passed away on Friday November 11, 2011, an auspicious time (11/11/11 at 11 pm) given his love of numbers.
Normin was born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary. He obtained his B.Comm at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and qualified for his CA while working in Bermuda. Normin taught in Singapore and Guyana, followed by accounting positions in Malawi and Bahamas. When he returned to Canada in 1977, he worked with a development firm on projects in Edmonton, Texas, and northern BC. He also acquired and renovated real estate properties. Normin met and married Donna in Edmonton. When they moved back to Calgary in 1982, Normin chose a different number shuffling career, working full time for the Calgary Stampede as a casino dealer and pit boss. He enjoyed playing on the winning side of the table and remained with the casino until health issues forced him to retire. Normin enjoyed gardening, fishing, bridge, watching sports, travel and finding a bargain.
Normin is survived by his wife of thirty years, Donna Walker, stepson Kenton Walker and grandchildren Tella and Bradley Walker of Okotoks.
Normin was predeceased by his brothers Donald and John, mother Melba Knight and father Dr. Charles Knight.
A Celebration of Life drop-in will be on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Kingsland Community Hall 505 – 78 Avenue SW. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
