Obituary of Filip RIMAC

December 12, 1932 – November 9, 2011 Surrounded by his loving family, Filip Rimac passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78. Filip was born on December 12, 1932, in the Croatian village of Strupnic and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1973. He is dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Anda, as well as his three children: Zorica (Tomo), Zvonko (Christine), and Nikola (Marija). Filip will be fondly remembered by his nine grandchildren Shelley, Kristina, Andrew, Justin, Tyler, Samantha, Matthew, Joshua and Spencer. He is survived by his siblings Martin, Ante (Zdenka) and Anda (Josip) and sisters-in-law Luca and Ruzica, as well as numerous family members across Canada and Croatia. He was predeceased by his father Dane; mother Matija; brothers Cvitko and Stipo and sisters Milka, Cela and Kata. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E.) on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
