Obituary of Mitch Metro SULLIVAN

December 10, 1937 – November 7, 2011 It is with the greatest sorrow ever known that the family of Mitch Sullivan announce his passing when their finite, earthly love could no longer sustain him after a heart attack. Mitch was born in Vegreville, AB, moved to Field, BC at 12 years, to Edmonton at 17, and to Red Deer in 1960 where he lived, worked and played until his passing. His absolute passion for working and playing were beyond compare. The oil industry consumed his professional and working life. Farming, boating, fishing, inventing, building, and development projects were his recreational and fun time. Mitch began his oil career in 1958 with Leidecker Tool, later purchasing the company and naming it Tubetest Service and Supply as it is known today and put mind, body and soul into making it reputable. He developed, changed and patented many aspects of the business. Swan Hills, Wolfcreek, Fox Creek, Valleyview, Slave Lake, Peace River, offshore Atlantic and the Beaufort Sea became dinner time talk as did camps and camp food and heating soup on the truck engine. Along the journey he had his farming adventures and misadventures. Boating on the west coast became the new passion in the 80’s – trips to Alaska, the Queen Charlottes – never too rough or too far. His second home became Brentwood Bay, BC – fishing, crabbing, prawning, and always messing around the dock, revamping something that was good but could be better. In his spare time he developed a light industrial park and a campground along the Red Deer River. Mitch absolutely enjoyed life to the fullest and that enjoyment was always enhanced by the everlasting support, devotion, manual labour and love of his forever wife Shirley; daughter Michelle (Murray) and their children Mikasa, Mitaya, Presley, and Taylor; son Mike and his children Janelle, Joshua and Janessa; brother Bill (Terry); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Alberta, British Columbia, California, and elsewhere. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, three sisters-in-law, a sister, and a brother-in-law. Mitch always put his own needs aside to spend quality time with family no matter when or where. He also valued and respected his friends and workmates. We are so grateful and honoured to have been blessed with such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly, dearly missed by all who really knew him. We Love You Mitch.
