Obituary of Christine Anne BISSETT

July 11, 1938 – November 4, 2011 Christine Bissett born to a pioneer family in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 11, 1938, passed away in Calgary, Alberta on November 4, 2011, following a lengthy illness with lung cancer. Chris is survived by Dick, her beloved husband of 51 years; her dear children, Bob (Wendy) Bissett; Barb (Russ) Brown; cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Kendra and Matthew, of Calgary and Canmore, Alberta. Chris had a special loving bond with her family and will be missed dearly by her siblings, Sheila (Russ) Dixon, Calgary; Bob (Terry) Sinton, Barrie, Ontario; Judy Hickson, Medicine Hat; her in-laws, Jane Simms, Oakland, Maryland; and Carl (Sue) Bissett, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Chris was blessed to have been supported for the last two years by close nieces and nephews, Howie (Toni) Dixon, Calgary; Tine (Clive) Johnson, Vancouver; Doug (Kelly) Dixon, Vancouver; Jane (Michael) Gyorkos, Medicine Hat; Paul Hickson, Medicine Hat; Paula Sinton, Toronto; David Foster, Toronto; Wes (Liz) Bissett, Baltimore, Maryland. Chris was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Kathleen Sinton; brothers-in-law, Clive Hickson and Jim Simms; nephews, Tom Sinton; Jimmy Simms and Bill Hickson. Chris attended elementary school in Saskatchewan and graduated from Luther College High School in Regina. Before her marriage to Dick, she attended the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing, always continuing her honours standing. Chris was active in the communities in which she resided, including Dallas, Texas; Coleville, Saskatchewan; Consort, Alberta; and Calgary. She participated in numerous groups, often serving in executive positions. For over 25 years, Chris was an integral part of the management team of the family oil and gas, engineering and consulting firm. We will remember Chris for her love of family; unending generosity; loyalty; friendship; fabulous memory; love of the prairies and desert; patience, strength of character and sense of humour. The family is grateful to the medical staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic who allowed Chris to face her cancer journey with strength and dignity. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
