Obituary of Patricia Mae CUSHING

August 20, 1934 – November 2, 2011 Patricia (Pat) Mae Cushing (nee West) beloved wife of Donald George Cushing of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the age of 77 years. Pat was born on August 20, 1934 in Eston, Saskatchewan to Marguerite and Steven West. She was an active member of Rotary Anns in Calgary for many years and served as President of the Club for the term of 1982-83. Pat was also a proud recipient of the Paul Harris Award in 1997. She enjoyed over twenty-three years working as a volunteer for the Calgary Stampede Board. Pat was a consistent contributor and supporter of the W.H. Cushing Workplace School in Calgary as well as Calgary’s S.P.C.A. She was a member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club. Her passions in life included gardening, beautiful clothing, jewellery and her precious doggies. Pat shared her love of travel to many far away and fascinating places with “The Donald” her husband of forty years. She was a voracious reader and had a vast knowledge of many things and of course she loved a good party. Besides her loving husband Don, Pat is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Selma Nicol (Rob); Don’s daughter’s and their spouses, Linda Percival (Don) and Donna Cushing (Mike) and her grandchildren Natalie Percival and Ryland Percival. She also leaves to mourn her beloved Norwich Terrier Sadie. Pat’s surviving siblings include, Barb Snyder, Richard West (Lavinia), Diana Gunther (Ray), Wendy Donald (Ed) and Bill Etter (Gwen) as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister Anita McDougall September 22, 1991 and brother-in-law Lanny Snyder. A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Calgary Golf & Country Club (One and one half blocks west of Elbow Drive on 50th Avenue S.W. Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the staff at Rockyview General Hospital, Unit 74 as well as Sarcee Hospice for their compassion and expertise. The family would also like to thank mom’s caregiver and companion of the past year Amanda. If friends so desire donations can be made directly to the Calgary Foundation for the W.H.
