Obituary of Ben Joseph FLAHR

November 14, 1932 – October 28, 2011 Ben Flahr, beloved husband of Marcelle Flahr of Cochrane, passed away on October 28, 2011 at the age of 78 years. Ben had a full and productive life. He was born in Kerrobert SK, but left the family farm at a young age to work in the oilpatch. While working in oilfield services, he and his family lived eleven years overseas in Norway, Australia, Scotland and England. After coming back to Canada, he switched vocations and embarked on several different business ventures in Creston, Fernie and Saskatoon. After this he returned to Calgary and primarily worked in oilfield services again with the addition of some business ventures. This he did until he became a business broker which he continued to do until his retirement in 2006. Besides his loving wife of thirty years, Ben is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Flahr and Shelly Flahr; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Michelle Flahr and Rick and Glenda Flahr; three step-daughters and their spouses, Monette Bouvier and Christophe Albarracin, Nicole and Wade Cowie, Brigitte Bouvier and Glen Paradis; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers and four sisters and their families. A Celebration of Ben’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Cochrane Funeral Home (369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at Cochrane Cemetery.
