Obituary of Sheila Jeanne SKEET

July 20, 1930 – October 23, 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Jeanne, on October 23, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Jeanne was born in Winnipeg, MB; then the family moved to Calgary in 1940 where she attended Central Memorial High School. Jeanne married Allen Skeet on December 21, 1951. Jeanne loved her role as mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known to her two grandsons as Grammy. She spent many days taking them on outings, baking cookies and playing when they were young and was always their biggest fan, never missing a sporting activity that the boys were involved in. Jeanne and Allen spent most of their time at their cabin in Waiporous, which they had for over forty years. She was happiest out there, enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck with the chickadees and her “diamond days”. Jeanne worked in the oil patch in her early years and then worked at the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary where she made many friends. In her spare time, Jeanne was very creative and talented and her passion was quilting. Everyone who received one of Jeanne’s quilts used and displayed them with great pride. Jeanne and Allen were able to travel over the years and visited many wonderful places, such as the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, and England. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband of sixty years Allen; son Jim (Susan); and daughter Jane Anne (David) Maryka. She will be deeply missed by her two grandsons, Taylor and Eric Maryka. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Audrey and Nancy. A Private Family Service will be held. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation directed to the Rotary Flames House, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., Calgary, AB T3B 6A8, Telephone: (403) 955-8818. In living memory of Jeanne Skeet, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
