Obituary of Vladimir JURANEK
February 14, 1935 – October 21, 2011
Vladimir Juranek beloved husband of Vera of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 21, 2011 after a short battle with cancer.
Vlad was born in Lipnik N/ Becvou, Czech Republic in 1935. He studied Electronic Engineering in Prague receiving his degree in 1958. In 1968, Vlad immigrated to Canada with his wife Vera and daughter Vladka. After the birth of his second daughter Jane, the family moved to Calgary where he started and grew a successful locomotive engineering firm (Q-Tron Ltd). As a young man, he became an avid Amateur Radio Operator (VA6IK) which was a life long passion. Vlad also had a love of traveling, photography, wine making and music.
Vlad is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years Vera; his daughters Vladka and Jane (Bruce Fader); and his grandchildren, Sharla, Sean, Carolyne and Julie. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
