Obituary of James Jim Daniel FLANNERY

July 7, 1926 – October 20, 2011 James “Jim” Daniel Flannery passed away peacefully at Chinook Hospice on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Jim was born in Piapot, Saskatchewan and joined the army at eighteen. On completion of duty, he returned to Eastend, Saskatchewan to complete his high school diploma where he met the love of his life, Ethel. They married in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1948. After a short time with C.P.R., Jim became a court reporter with the Province of Alberta, an occupation he remained in until his retirement in 1984. Jim is survived by three children, Jack (Leslie) Flannery, Sheila (Dwight) Kawalik and Doug (Patti) Flannery; five grandchildren, Jim (Tracey) Flannery, Shannon (Jason) Bottorff, Tracy Kawalik, Amber and April Flannery; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Logan Bottorff and Shaelynn Flannery. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ethel in 2001, ten years to the day of his own passing. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
