Obituary of Kenneth Albert BILLINGHURST
October 11, 1936 – October 17, 2011
The Billinghurst family regretfully announces the passing of Ken Billinghurst Sr. who died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the age of 75.
Ken is survived by his lovely wife June of 54 years and children Randy (Shelley), Debbie, Ken Jr. (Pam Pritchett) and Robin Dadswell (Stan Weir). Ken was predeceased by two brothers Alan and Paul and two sisters Donna Palmer and Bette Lachapelle.
Ken owned the Inner City Boxing Club in Calgary for over 30 years until retirement in 2002. Even in retirement Ken continued working in the sport he loved and assisted in the formation of the Chestermere Boxing Commission and the Taber Boxing Commission. He also worked as a consultant on several boxing shows throughout Alberta. Ken was inducted into the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame in 1986, and leaves behind “A great legacy in the sport he loved”.
Although his accomplishments were many the greatest joy in Ken’s life were his grandchildren Amber, Chandler, Parker and Brooklyn.
Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
