Obituary of Joyce Irene NORRIS

July 31, 1919 – October 13, 2011 Joyce Norris, beloved wife of Willy Norris of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011. Joyce was born in Seven Persons, AB on July 31, 1919, the seventh of eight children. In 1927 her father moved the family to Calahoo, a farming community near Edmonton. It was here she met and fell in love with Willy. They were married on December 23, 1950 and moved the following year to Toronto. Joyce worked in an ice cream store, supporting Willy while he attended the University of Toronto. Upon graduation they settled in Ottawa where they lived for fifteen years. In 1969, Willy and Joyce moved to Calgary and spent the rest of their lives there. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty years, Willy Norris; her sons, Marcel, Lee and Keith; sister-in-law Lorraine; and her four grandchildren, Roxanne, Rona (Mark), Shannon, and Vanetta. She had eight great-grandchildren, Terrianna, Emerald, Shane, Colin (deceased), Jessie, Mercedes, Chris, and Carlene. She was predeceased by her parents John and Malvina Berry; her two brothers, Vance and Glen; and five sisters, Rose, Mabel, Theda, Arvilla, and Mary. Joyce’s passion was caring for her family. She loved cooking, baking, playing cards, gardening and being surrounded by family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a Graveside Service at Westlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery (16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, AB) on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
