Obituary of Velina Gilda IMBROGNO

April 1, 1935 – October 12, 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gilda Imbrogno, beloved wife of Rocco Imbrogno of Calgary, on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Gilda was born in Pietrafitta, Cosenza, Italy and immigrated to Canada in September, 1957. She was married to Rocco on October 26, 1957. Gilda was an astout business person, operating her own professional janitorial business for over thirty-five years. Gilda loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and will be remembered for her passion of cooking, baking and sharing with family and friends. Gilda’s kindness was immense and all whose lives were touched by her were truly blessed. Her love of flowers was evident by the many baskets of flowers in her garden. She always enjoyed returning to Italy to visit dear friends and family. Gilda lived for her children and grandchildren. Gilda is survived by her loving husband Rocco, daughter and son-in-law Sara and Louis Rego, son and daughter-in-law Giulio and Nicole Imbrogno, four grandchildren Jaime, Nicholas, Celina and Julia, two brothers, Victor (Virginia) and Peter (Yolande) Scaglione, one sister-in- law Rosetta Imbrogno, one sister Maria Imbrogno, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Giulia and Raffaele Scaglione and two brothers-in-law Frank Imbrogno and Antonio Imbrogno. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF GRACE ITALIAN AND ENGLISH CATHOLIC CHURCH (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.), on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
