Obituary of Stanley Thomas MARLES

July 26, 1925 – September 27, 2011 We are sad to announce that Stanley Marles passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Stanley grew up in Madden, Alberta with his parents and five siblings, Billy, Jimmy, Catherine, Anne, and Jean. Stanley loved his life on the farm and some of his fondest memories were the days that he spent on the combine. Stanley married his loving wife Faith in Calgary at Crescent Heights Baptist Church, December 10, 1955. They spent fifty-two years together in the Calgary neighbourhood of Mountain View. Stanley’s passion was creating and planning engineering projects. He even built a motor home from scratch which made a 20km voyage before retiring it to the backyard. Stanley was a welder by trade, incredibly skilled and talented but continued to put his engineering mind to work always planning, creating, inventing and experimenting. He was a loving grandfather and was adored by his three grandchildren, who loved to walk with him, hold his hand and sit with him while he relayed his stories of the past. Stanley will be remembered by his friends and family for his pleasant ways, storytelling, and sense of humour. Stanley is survived by his two sons, Howard Marles (Sharon Myers) and Allen Marles (Terri Marles), his grandchildren, Ben, Ruby, and Lily Marles, sisters, Anne Mitchell and Jean McFadden (Vic), sisters-in-law, Marlis Marles and Alice Marles, along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife Faith Marles, March 10, 2008. There will be a graveside service on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Queen’s Park Cemetery, 4th Street & 31st Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB.
