Obituary of Robert WILBY

November 26, 1924 – September 26, 2011 Robert Wilby of Calgary passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the age of 86 years. He was born on November 26, 1924 in Montreal, QC. Robert enrolled in the Canadian Army as an Infanteer in the 48th Canadian Highlanders, the Black Watch, and was deployed to Italy in 1943, as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He repatriated to Canada in 1946 after serving in Italy, France, Germany and Holland. In 1946, Robert was a truck driver for Sears. He met Lillian and was married in June of 1947. Robert missed the Military and re-enlisted in 1957, serving again with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Borden, ON until his release from the C.F. in 1975. He moved to and settled in Calgary in 1975. Remaining in uniform, he joined the Canadian Corps of Commisionaires, Working at several locations in Calgary until his eventual retirement in 1995. Robert is survived by his children, Bruce, Susan Archer, Donald, and Peter. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian on May 12, 2009. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
