Steve and Family, We were so sorry to hear of Jill’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Steve and Family:
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Jill’s passing. We want you to know that our thoughts are with.
To Steve and family, among the many tributes to Jill, I want to add your family’s contribution to the AFS International Student Exchange program in Yellowknife. Over many years, you hosted students and helped with our committee. Jill’s love, and your family’s generousity – we all remember those great wild game cookouts! – have endeared you to young people around the world. We are all blessed to have known Jill and and cherish her memory.
Steve and family;
I was so sorry to read of Jill’s death in the Yellowknifer. She left a mark on my life when she was my nurse in day surgery. She shared her own experiences and her calmness and kindness made me feel so much better!
She’s singing with God now. I am thinking of you who are left here for a while longer.
My deepest condolences to Jill’s family. She was always willing to have nursing students with her, and although she was very strict, they did learn from her and appreciated her kindness and willingness to share her knowledge. She was a an excellent nurse, a knowledgeable teacher and joyful woman.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. My deepest sympathy on the passing of Jill.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. Our deepest sympathies

Although I have not seen Jill for many years, I was stunned to learn of her passing. Jill and I were classmates and good friends at Fort Richmond Collegiate in Winnipeg. The obituary describes Jill just as I remember her in high school. From reading the other condolences, it is apparent that Jill has left a wonderful leagacy. My Sympathy to you and the family.
Steve and Family:
We were so very sorry to hear of your loss of Jill. What an incredible woman she was! All the kids whos lives she’s touched through AFS, the quiet determination and efficiency that she brought to everything she did, and the incredible care that she gave to everyone she met – be assured that she will live on in their memories as she will in ours.
From our AFS family here, from our family personally, our words are so little in comparison.
With love to you and your family.
Sue, Norman, Christine, Katie. And AFS’s all – Catherine, Greg, Marianne, Bill, Keith, Janet, Deb (Eben), Lorraine.

Stephen and family:
I was very sorry to hear about Jill’s passing. Amongst my memories of her are the patient tutoring at choir practices and our famous grade 6 camping trip when she taught the students how to bake a cake in a cardboard oven. The children were truly amazed. Her patience, generosity and cheery disposition will be remembered. Deepest sympathy

To Stephen and family,
We are so saddened to hear of Jill’s passing. Lorna just told me today, and I was shocked that she is gone. I met her once at Mom and Dad’s (Norman and Mary Bell’s) when your children were very young. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and must have had many friends. Life is so very short for so many wonderful people. I do hope time will make your sadness lessen, but all your memories of Jill will last forever. Donna and Wayne
Stephen Harbicht and Family,
Our deepest sympathies.
Love Jack and Marlene McKelvey of PLAP Manitoba and the late Kay Wallace of Cartwright, Manitoba.
Jills grandmother the late Mrs. Daly of Cartwright worked for many years on the committee for the Rock Lake United Church Camp. Each spring in Southern Manitoba a quilt auction is held for the camp and somewhere between 10,000 – 15,000 dollars is raised. Last spring my 2 baby blankets sold for 95.00.
God Bless the whole family.
Marlene McKelvey.
Wow, what a terrible shock to see the obituary for Jill. I was a member of the class of 1977 HSC Nursing School. Jill was unforgettable and I know your family will miss her dearly. Her smile, her laugh, her sense of fun, her maturity, compassion, and knowledge of life made her such a wonderful person. My deepest condolences to all her family and friends. I am so sad to know you will all be missing such a constant in your lives. I do know you will all have special memories of your lives together and I hope with time, those memories will keep her close and peace will be with each of you.
Our deepest sympathy is sent to Jill’s family. She was the rock on which the Yellowknife United Church Choir was built. It was a joy to here her play.

Dear Steve, Kim, Laura, David and Andrew,
Jill was the heart and spirit of the YK United Church choir. Her commitment, encouragement and very fine skills carried us through many years of rehearsals and worship services. I learned from Jill, and feel grateful for the music we made.
Our deepest sympathy,
Susan Chisholm and Michael Young
So very sorry to hear of Jill’s passing. I worked with her in Yellowknife in Surgical Daycare for several years before she retired. She was a hard worker with high standards who kept the unit running like clockwork and we learned a lot from her. She will be truly missed.
Perhaps the are not really stars,
But rather tiny openings in the Heavens,
Where the love of God, and our loved ones shine through,
To let us know they are happy and watching over us.

To Steve, Kim, Laura, David and Andrew and families; Nora, Norm, Rob, Judy and Jane and families…Sending our thoughts and prayers to all of you. Although a really really sad time it is amazing how looking at Jill’s picture in the Free Press makes me smile. That smile of hers is amazing and obviously really reflected who she was. To Steve and family: My most heartfelt condolences. I think the words of Edward Hayes say it all……
“… And all I take with me as I leave is your love and the millions of memories of all that we have shared so I truly enter my new life as a millionaire.
Fear not nor grieve at my departure, you whom I have loved so much, for my roots and yours are forever intertwined.”

My deepest condolences to Jill’s friend’s and family. Jill was my preceptor for my last year of nursing school. I remember her to be so kind, friendly and caring to the patient’s that came through surgical day care. She taught me so much both professionally and personally and I’m saddened to hear of her passing. May her family find peace and comfort in the days to come. xo
Such a special person. So caring, so interesting, so compassionate. She will be missed by all who had the priviledge of calling her friend.
To all of Jill’s family – Please know that our thoughts are with you. We are sorry we are unable to travel to Calgary to give our condolences in person.
Love Les, Blane and Susan
On behalf of the Brown family from Yellowknife, we want you to know that Jill will always hold a special place in our hearts. She was a gifted person. I shall never forget her musical talent and her faithfulness. I can’t think of YK United Church without picturing Jill up at the front. But more than that, I’ll never forget her singing to my father while he was dying. It was the most precious gift of all. I’m so truly sorry for your loss.
Joanne Burns (Brown)
I am sorry to hear the news about Jill. I am thinking about your family. Love from Mexico, Kristen Fry
Steve and Family, my condolences on the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother. Take care of each other.
Jill was a shining light in Yellowknife. Always a smile on her face and right in there helping at community and musical events. I’m very sorry for your loss.
Stephen – Although we have never met you and your children I knew Jill and her family growing up in Souris and used to carpool with Rob and Jill to Brandon for music lessons. My parents were friends of Nora and Norm’s and my brother, Brian, a friend of Rob’s. My husband, Bill, and I have also run into Norm and Nora occasionally since we moved to Winnipeg over 20 years ago. We wish to express our condolences to you, your children and grandchildren, as well as to Norm and Nora and Jill’s siblings and their families. Carol and Bill Potter (formerly Carol Saunderson)

Steve and Family,
I am so sad to hear of Jill’s passing. She was an amazing woman! I remember going into a surgery in Yellowknife and I knew I was in “great hands” as she was my nurse. Jill had this genuine love and kindness that came through her actions, her facial expressions and touch. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal…love leaves a memory no one can steal! Pamela Malmsten
I was so sorry to hear of Jill’s death. I have great memories of teaching Sunday School with her at Yellowknife United Church. She was a great person who contributed so much to church and family. I’m glad we got a little visit when in Yellowknife for the anniversary celebration a couple of years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you Steve, and all the family.
Nora
