Obituary of Luigia PRIOLO
March 23, 1950 – September 15, 2011
Luigia Priolo of Calgary who fought valiantly in her last year with us passed away from illness on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the age of 61 years. She spent her final days at the Southwood Hospice where she received compassionate and supportive care.
Born in Palizzi, Italy in 1950, she immigrated to Canada at the early age of 5 and remained a Calgarian since. Luigia had an eighteen year marriage to Tanvidio Trotta with two surviving children, Remo (Lisa) Trotta, and Janet (Dennis) Mustapic, as well two surviving grandchildren, Anthony and Giuliana Trotta, ages 8 and 7.
In addition to her immediate family, Luigia is also survived by six siblings, Joe (Anna) Priolo, Antonio (Elvira) Priolo, Lila (Tony) Daprocida, Salvatore (Linda) Priolo, Cathy Daprocida, Ottavio (Angela) Priolo; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family.
She was predeceased by brother Carmelo Priolo; father Stefano Priolo and mother Maria Carmela Priolo.
Luigia was spirited, adventurous, and open-minded. Never afraid to follow her curiosity her life lead down several paths and touched many different people. She will be remembered fondly by all of them.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
