Obituary of Phyllis Hope TISDALL
December 2, 1922 – September 15, 2011
Phyllis Hope Tisdall, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Staywell Manor in Calgary after a period of declining health..
Phyllis was born on December 2, 1922 in Smithers, B.C., where her father was a mine superintendent, and grew up in Victoria. She married her husband, William Hodgetts Tisdall in Vancouver, during whirlwind wartime romance while he was on leave from military service in the Italian campaign. After the war, they moved to Calgary in 1951 with the opening of the oil patch. After raising her children, she went back to university for her second degree and then worked for two decades in the Calgary Public School system as a school librarian. She is survived by her children, Rob (Polly), Barbara and Philip (Holly), nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
